Thelma Seguí utiliza una deslumbrante técnica pictórica: pasa la flama de un soplete pequeño sobre papel preparado con ácido, el cual reacciona con el fuego dando como resultado la aparición de una imagen.
Thelma Seguí uses a stunning painting technique: she applies acid to heavy cotton paper then scorches the image onto the paper using a blowtorch.
"Con la técnica fire painting, lo que quise fue traducir el poema a un lenguaje gráfico y visual a través del dibujo, que es 'impreso' en el papel con fuego. El objetivo es hacer una imagen alusiva y contundente de cada una de las trece partes del poema para darle una nueva lectura. Es un trabajo que se realiza haciendo pasar por la mano el razonamiento de las ideas y los sentimientos que el texto plasma en mi imaginación para depositarlas en el papel, formando una a una la colección de ilustraciones de Reflexiones Tropicales". “With the fire painting techique, what I wanted was to translate the poem into a graphic and visual language, with the drawings becoming ‘printed’ on the paper through the use of fire. The aim was to create an allusive and potent image for each of the thirteen fragments of the poem to provide a new reading. This was done by allowing the ideas and feelings that the text evoked in my imagination to pass through the hand and onto the paper, forming one by one the series for Reflexiones Tropicales.” Thelma Seguí
